ABOUT WESTONING LOWER SCHOOL
Head Teacher's Welcome
On behalf of the children, staff and governors in our school, I am delighted to welcome both you and your child to Westoning Lower School, rated Good by Ofsted in February 2019.
I have had the privilege of leading the children and staff at Westoning Lower School (WLS) for 11 years. At WLS we believe strongly in ensuring every child is known, taught well, valued and cared for.
We have a firm commitment to enabling all of our pupils to achieve their potential within this nurturing and supportive community whatever their needs or abilities. We strive to make learning exciting and encourage all of our children to take responsibility for their own learning. We take the safety and well being of every child very seriously and work closely with all parents and carers. We are proud of our community links and the achievements of our pupils, both academically and across the creative arts and sport.
I look forward to meeting you.

Our aim is to provide for pupil's emotional, spiritual and cultural needs, developing self-esteem and confidence in addition to fostering a love and excitement for learning. Children are encouraged to work both independently, and as part of a team and to lead healthy, active lifestyles.
There has been a school in Westoning since 1880, when it was sited at the current Westoning Village Hall. The School has been on the current site since 1913 ater being resited as the orginal building was not deemed to be good enough for the education of children.
